i just installed openGEU 8.04 and immediately upgraded to 8.10
during packets where installed my computer suddenly rebootet, or something like that
this happend two times, after the last one i had a black screen and only a terminal, no menu and no gui
after packets were ready installed, i rebootet and now i can see one more session - additional to "Enlightenment" there is a "E17 - ecomorph" session
i logged in both enlightenment and e17 - ecomorph and notice no difference between this sessions at this time

my first action on my new OS is writing this post and at least till now i have no problems, errors, etc

thank you guys for this great composition of such wonderful software (aka openGEU)  Grin

Hi and welcome, this is funny because I completed today a workaround to your problem and am testing it! If it works, I'll upload the new website update and you'll be able to download together with the iso a fix file. With this, you won't have any trouble upgrading!

Trying to upgrade and the repository is not found:

Failed to fetch http://greenie.sk/ubuntu/dists/intrepid/Release  Unable to find expected entry  intrepid/binary-amd64/Packages in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?)
Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

What am I doing wrong or is there a problem with this release file.

it looks you have bad entry in sources.list.
you should have

deb http://greenie.sk/ubuntu intrepid e17 opengeu

you should have

deb http://greenie.sk/ubuntu intrepid e17 opengeu

after upgrading to 8.10 i have following entries:

deb http://greenie.sk/ubuntu hardy e17
deb http://greenie.sk/ubuntu hardy opengeu

other entries are hardy sources too, is this right? I'm not sure, using linux just a few weeks

change any hardy to intrepid. In 8.10 you should have only intrepid entries, no hardy entries.

Pardon the inexperience... and the forth coming Winblows jargon... Smiley
I'm currently running 8.04.  Should I be able to upgrade to 8.10 via upgrade manager by changing or adding the repositories to Synaptic Pkg Manager?

If so do I just add deb http://greenie.sk/ubuntu intrepid e17 opengeu to the repositories and install the updates that show up?

Must not ask but I will.  What is the status of the "official" OpenGEU release?

Luca has some problems with building the ISO of Luna Crescente, that's why we're terribly late. We beg your pardon. Sad

Don't worry Alex, you're welcome, it was my problem in building the iso. Looks like it is misteriously impossible to use VMWare Fusion to buil an iso with reconstructor, can't imagine why. After days and days of work and support request in the reconstructor forum, I realized myself, thanks to the help of MadnessMike, that the problem was my virtualization program. Once I tried to build the iso on VirtualBox, it worked.

Quarto di Luna is not going to have these problems, apparently. It mainly depends on how fast will Quaker be on compiling the new E17 with Jaunty support and upgrade his repos. Then I will upgrade my configuration files for OpenGEU and we'll just miss themes. Which, I must say, are already created but not yet transformed in real GTK and E17 themes. I and Artpulse already completed the work (moonlight is still unfinished but we got it, don't worry) but we are not able of coding and Jorge is missing due to his business problems.

So, this mail is also to ask if anyone able of coding E17 themes well can help us. Because right now the allmighty Quaker offered himself to help us, but he's one person, and he needs to create Debian repos, Ubuntu repos for 3 versions (Hardy, intrepid, Jaunty) and now even themes and various scripts for us Sad
It could last forever...
