Can't successfully select 75Hz
« on: December 10, 2007, 09:48:50 am »
Another issue - my primary video is onboard intel 845 using the "intel" driver. In gnome, I can select both 75 and 85Hz refresh rates for available resolutions. In E, only 85 Hz results even if I select 75 Hz.

have you checked the restricted drivers?

Alyx, I'm not quite sure what you're asking - isn't the intel driver the standard one for intel integrated video? I'm not aware of any non-free intel video drivers.

The problem I'm encountering does not occur under gnome on the same system.

In any case, I'm running a vanilla 2.6.23.1 kernel and do not have access to the restricted modules.

Wait you compiled the vanillia Kernel? We put out with 2.6.22-14, I'm not sure how to help with that.

I understand your concern, Alyx, you need a standard base for troubleshooting.

I did the kernel upgrade as soon as I installed Gutsy, quite a while ago now, long before I installed geubuntu.

I just booted with 2.6.22-14 however, and the same issue occurs.

No, ubuntu / geubuntu runs on the physical machine. I use vmware and virtualbox for windows and PC-BSD.

Having had to reinstall due to serious breakage (not certain what caused it), I can confirm that this is an e17 issue. I clean installed Linux Mint 4.0, installed e17 without geubuntu-desktop, and the same thing occurs - cannot select 75Hz in e, but can in gnome.

So, this isn't geubuntu specific.
