no usable theme found
« on: June 08, 2008, 08:33:54 am »
I am trying to  run live cd of 7.10, during boot the screen freezes at a point where the message (no usable theme found for 640x800 screen:init failed.) This live cd has been successfully used on an older computer but will not load on mine.what must I do as a get around for this problem.
I have had a quick look at hardy but this distro rocks and I am determined to have it on my machine.

I had this happen once on another distro. What worked for me was when the boot screen pops up (i.e. run and install) edit the boot line and remove, if its there, the words quiet, splash and if there 791 (actually I also remove 788). Hope this works.

A beta will be out in a matter of days, you'll be able to test if with the beta something changes (there has been a lot of updated to E and to Ubuntu, aside from our updates). If it won't work anyway, maybe the alternate CD we'll release in the future will work... hope the problem will be fixed somehow...
