Hi,

the problem is, that when an USB flash drive (VFat) is automounted, it's done without utf8 support ...

When I restart HAL (with sudo /etc/init.d/hal restart) the  drive it mounted correctly with utf8 - but the places module don't show it any longer - it's shown in Thunar but not in places modul - after a system restart flash drives are mounted without utf8 again - is it possible, that places anyway skips the HAL configuration ?

any ideas?

Hello!

You have to add the utf8 option when mounting the usb-stick.

Don't know how to do that with the automount demon.

Hopefully someone else can answer that.

Yes. I know that, but I need to know how to do it ;-)

fact is, that after restarting HAL it works but the drive is not shown in Places - without a HAL restart its shown in Places but no utf8  Huh So there must be a problem with Places and utf8 ?
