Maybe you could add some animation features to MyPaint? It won't even require to change saveformat (well, maybe except frame per second value), only the way it is presented. We have almost all what is needed to animation. We can draw frames (called "pages in sheet", I believe. I am using Polish version of MyPaint so there are related shortcuts: F2 F6 F7), all we really need is onion skin feature and play button.

You'll probably have to compile it yourself, unless you can get someone else to do it for you. :)

Will it be merged into master, possibly for 1.1? I'd like to have it without having two separate MyPaints on HDD.

Probably not. If you read Maxy's replies in that thread you'll see that he considers animation to be outside the scope of Mypaint.

Best animation branch IMO was manuq's xsheet https://gitorious.org/~manuq/mypaint/xsheet-mypaint Sadly it has not been updated in over a year. If any one knows of any more recent attempts to add animation features to MyPaint I would love to know as well. On Ubuntu it's really easy to compile, on windows also using tumagonx buildenv...
