Hey I' am new to Mypaint REALLY is a great tool

But  mayby I'am wrong, But the opacity control ( brush ---more or less opacity)  dont work that great on different selected paint tools
like more or less opacity is very hard too determine.

Mayby there could be a Opacity Slider from 0 to 100 %??

1..

IT would be very cool, if you could choose a transparent background. if  its possible ( in pyhton-- mayby I will take a look in the code) That way you could drop image behind mypaint and use it as a sketch

The top slider in the brush settings, (ctrl +b) controls opacity. Is that not good enough? If no, how could it be better?

Why cant you just open the image you want to use as a sketch in MyPaint, add a layer and draw onto that? Possibly you will want to scale, crop or convert the image to a suitable file format before doing that. If so you can use GIMP or equivalent for that.

I recently used an interesting method to create a sketch layer that isn't specifically practical but kinda cool.  I just took an old sketch and changed the canvas size to the proper dimensions for the backgrounds folder.  This created a really useful effect of having an infinite number of sketches tiled that I could try different techniques on for the same drawing.  Like I said maybe not the most practical thing but truly interesting.

To be practical just open the image in MyPaint (if it's not in the correct format gimp, irfanview etc can convert it to a png which should serve your purpose) and put a new layer on top of it as jonnor mentioned.
