Option to disable finger touch
« on: May 29, 2012, 04:09:09 pm »
Option to disable finger touch:

Mypaint was almost unusable in ubuntu on my asus ep121 while it worked fine on windows. In windows touch is less unpredictable (at the moment) and I can at least find a way to disable it. Now recently I have done an update to both Ubuntu and Mypaint(git master branch,I think,I wish this was clear in the about page),and I don't know which one it is but now touch painting and brushselecting is disabled, which is great. I can still however touch the tool windows and buttons, resize them accidentaly, touch and move the sliders of size,opacity,etc...

An option to disable this completely would really improve mypaint, because I would have more predictable behaviour and I wouldn't need to mind where my damn palm is all the time.

Update: I re-sude mypaint, and the od touch problem is back,it really makes mypaint almost useless on a tablet...

I think it's mostly the taks of the OS to disable devices. On Linux, try stuff like xsetwacom and xinput.

Anyway, maybe try http://wiki.mypaint.info/Development/Debugging_Tablet_Issues or play around with Help->Debug->GTK Input Device Dialog.

mmmmh yes

I'd generally agree
but linux/ubuntu is still very slow on the hardware side of things (though they do a great job)

But in the recent gimp I noticed I could disable finger touch which helped a great deal
That's why I asked this for mypaint.

Right now I cant draw in mypaint in linux without accidently resizing and moving windows,as well as lots of accidental strokes.

thanks for the answer ,though
