My image experiments
« on: February 11, 2012, 06:20:30 am »

Been stalking the forum forever. Figured I should start posting some stuff.

An experiment to try and capture the Ross style following the instructions in one of his books. Bad composition, but fun to try.

I really like how you show the strokes on the tree , sharp knife , it works :)
The scene colors are good and surprising for a snow scene.

Thank you, David. That's exactly what I was trying to achieve!
With some paint software, its difficult to mimic REAL painting techniques. This seems quite possible with MyPaint  :)
-I should also mention that I ran it through the sharpening filter in Gimp when I cropped it. It helps to make the brushstrokes pop more-

Very nice picture :)

I guess there's been an out-of-season snowfall, with the trees still having their leaves.
