Thank you very much for the build environment.
I'm nowhere near having any kind of programmer or coder mindset, i'm just a humble 2D/3D artist, and being a Window XP user i was in despair to see my favorite painting app, MyPaint getting new great and much needed features (symmetry painting and line tool) and none making any windows build from it.
Then seeing this thread, i decided to give a try to the new up to date environment as the build someone kindly uploaded wasn't working at all on my computer :
http://opensourcepack.blogspot.fr/2009/08/building-mypaint-in-windows.htmlThen got to
http://gitorious.org/mypaint/mypaint and meeting only 503 error , then enabled scripts for the page (using noscript as usual on my firefox it was preventing the page to work) to finally get to the "Tree Source" button and finally the desired "download master as .tar" button.
Then extracted accordingly to what the environment readme says and launched the build_portable.bat full of hope.
Noticed a few error messages in the dos window, making me wonderig what it was going to end with, going to fast to really notice what it was, but in the end it seemed to work, in the win32 folder i had a working version of MyPaint !
I tried, checked to see if that symmetry painting was working (found it Mypaint->Edit , then added the button in the toolbar for quicker access) and oh boy !
That's so magnificent and working that i had nearly a tear in my old eyes

while mouse painting around.
Though there's nothing showing where exactly is that symetry axis on the canvas (bug ? problem with the build ? me missing a button enabling to see that axis ? ) but it 's working great.
Thank you so much for sharing this environment thing with us non-coder and windows users.
Really this update of Mypaint for the symetry button alone is really something to try.
