I don't know if I am doing something wrong or set something up wrong, but at frequent random times while painting, blending, whatever I'm doing, a random line would go from where my pen is to the upper left of the screen, making a mark or even two. I would have to CTRL+Z about 3 times to get it to disappear and redo my strokes. This happens quite frequently to the point it's more than just annoying, it's almost unusable. I admit I did mess with the tablet pressure settings but then I ended up putting them back to what they were but that didn't help any.

The lines would always go to that upper left corner of the screen. Also I turned off all button features (set the buttons all to "none" for actions) and still it will make these random lines to the exact same spot on the screen. It looks like the lines are trying to go off screen.

I have a DigiPro WP5540 5" x 4" USB Graphics tablet, using Linux Mint 14 (KDE Version) and the xserver-xorg-input-wizardpen_0.7.3-0jaunty5_amd64.deb driver. I'm using MyPaint 1.0.0 (obtained from the Software Manager in Linux Mint).

Any way to stop this random line thing?

We think it's a driver bug, but thanks for the confirmation. There's an open bug about it here: https://gna.org/bugs/?19896

I'll investigate some filtering, to see what I can do. It can be reproduced a little bit with an Intuos, although it's nowhere near as frequent an occurrence as with some tablets.

In Mint, try adding the Ubuntu PPA ( https://launchpad.net/~achadwick/+archive/mypaint-testing ) to get a MyPaint 1.1.0 for testing, if you'd like to be able to test new fixes for this issue. If you're happy delving into the Python code, you could patch up the 1.0.0 you have installed with the test code in that bug.

Thank you. I think I might try the test version first when I get time (the way things are with me who knows maybe the'll have a release fix for it by then).

Another idea I had was maybe I'm resting my hand on the tablet and confusing the signals? But I don't know where it'd get the top-left corner from. Another thing maybe is a way to shut off automatic point-to-point lines as an option?

I don't have any settings for customizing the tablet outside of MyPaint (ie. no tablet settings in Settings - System Settings - Input Devices tablet area. In that area, it says no device found even if the tablet is plugged in (and working). So I can't change the default overall sensitivity. I did try (as mentioned) adjusting sensitivity in My Paint but that didn't help the random lines to upper left.

I think that the upper left coordinates keep getting randomly added it seems and it makes a line up to there from the current position.

When I get time I'll try and see if I can test the test version you mentioned and see if it does the same thing.

Here's a update. Installed test version 1.1.0 and then my tablet quit working so I had to reinstall the wizardpen driver. That got the tablet working again. Rebooted (for grins) and then plugged in the tablet and ran MyPaint 1.1.0. Same problem but maybe not as frequent. Thing is, this time instead of both lines going to the upper left, one went to the center. Still two lines are made at the same time (as before).

I saved the image from MyPaint to a JPG instead of doing a screen capture, and this showed a line across the top from the center line it made to the upper left line (like a triangle). In my image attachment I pointed out the "auto lines" as those are the one the program randomly made and also I pointed out where I pressed the pen to make a line when it happened.

Hope this helps give more clues as to what may be happening.

If it is a driver bug I hope not because I don't know if they are still maintaining Wizardpen? I couldn't find any way to contact any author(s).
