Unable to Update

Hi All I just got Open Geu yesterday and it look awesum
However, when I try to run the updates it says that it does not know which version of Ubuntu it is based on and it cannot install all updates....
How do I resolve this?
I am a complete newbie to Linux so any answers please make them very basic

in fact it says 'can't guess meta package, your system does not contain an ubuntu desktop and it is not possible to detect which version of ubuntu you are running. please install one of the packages above first using synaptuc before proceeding......

I do not have much knowledge myself, so I would wait for some proper advise.
Which version of opengeu have you got

It does seem like some basic parts of your system are missing, maybe reinstall from the beginning.

Or you simply follow the advise in your second posting and install the missing packages (i have so far always
run my Opengeu alongside ubuntu and xubuntu, so when I log in I have choices of other desktop environments).

maybe wait for better advise.

Hello optimistique , if it does not give us more information it is impossible to help.
That version uses OpenGEU?
Like you have installed, from repos or from live cd? etc.
Please try to give as much information as possible

You can't update anymore because recently was added a signature key in the repos and no one reported it. You can install it using this command:

wget -q http://greenie.sk/ubuntu/dists/repo.key -O - | sudo apt-key add -

At this point you could update your system
