Yay for Debian!  All you developers for OpenGEU are my heroes  Kiss

I noticed one buried reply about a name change, but I've not seen anything about the potential to change logos.

I think our logo and things are **gorgeous**, and even though I see that they're partly based on the Ubuntu design, I think they're so awesome I would like them to stay.  I would not mind changing the name, however, to reaffirm the understanding that we're going to be Debian now because I think some people will be confused.  Well, some people will be confused regardless, but...  And since the Debian change won't happen for a while it seems we have plenty of time to talk about this.

I'm a graphic artist and would like to contribute my work this autumn when I get back from being abroad.  This project is awesome, keep up the great work!

1) What do all of you think about keeping our logos, etc. regardless?

2) The other post mentions it was a pain in the ass to change from Geubuntu to GEU, so even though the "U" would seem to indicate Ubuntu, do you think it's worth the work to change it?

Thank u for this interesting topic... the change to debian is almost completed in reality, we're just having some problems with some of our programs and scripts... we need to solve those problems and then we're ready.

Changing the name is really painful: we lost all of our google results changing the name from geubuntu: from more than 600k results to 60k... incredible but true. Even after many releases and news, no change, we're stuck on 60k results approximately.. so, no change IMHO, it really breaks it all! And we already changed once... not so much time ago.

As for the logo and the "U" I'd keep it all and I'll tell u why: it's Ubuntish of course but what's wrong about it? I mean Ubuntu is known for being simple: OpenGEU will keep being as simple as ubuntu, we'll develop every missing piece to make it piece of cake to install drivers and all... plus we'll keep developing packages for Ubuntu! Only the distro will be Debian based so people will be able to keep choosing if they prefer OpenGEU on a Debian or Ubuntu base Wink
What d'u think about it?

I think that's great!  I can't wait! Kiss

By the way, are you scripting the Debian version so that people will install oGEU through packages, or will it be an iso-based install?

Very nice to read that!!!  Smiley
I can't wait to see the new OpenGEU release.
I still have one question, did you integrate Epanel (I think Elive used it)Huh I loved it, so it would be nice to see it in the new OpenGEU...

No Epanel for now, I don't know if we'll ever consider that.. I honestly found it very chaotic when I used it.. but nice to see.

Name: Okay we know that U stands for Ubuntu. Its part of the distro's  history
But OpenGEU is now a name in its own right ...so I dont think you need to change it again.

Looking forward to the release Smiley))

Good point, Zoe.  OpenGEU is far more than Ubuntu ever was alone.  It's an entity unto itself.  Oh I can't wait!

Ok, maybe for the next Release Cheesy Wink

However, I think the same, just stay with the old name!

Btw, will there be a beta-Release for testing? When can we expact a Beta or Final-release?
I can't wait, I'm sure it will be a masterpiece of work what you are doing! Wink
