Exactly what I was looking for!
« on: November 22, 2007, 08:33:35 am »
Wow, GREAT!

Last night, I was thinking to myself; Why haven't anyone made a E17buntu / Ebuntu? A couple of years ago I only used Enlightenment. And with all the flavors of Ubuntu out there, I was hoping someone could make a Enlightenment-Ubuntu.

And then, today, I accidently stumbled upon this site - with EXACTLY what I was looking for. :)

I'm really looking forward to you guys being able to provide packages for this release. =)

And, btw, if there is need for hosting, I could always help out a bit. Not too much, though, but I could run a mirror for the iso's if required. =)

Btw, a little request from me; Make a mailinglist, so that people (like myself) can subscribe and then recieve emails when there is a release ready, or the packages are beeing available.

I will keep an eye on this project!

And, I think there should be a link to this forum on the front page. :)

Of course you can help hosting. Could you give me in private message more details? We need hosting.

I'm in the same boat here.  I tried a linux OS before, and though I loved that it was different, it was just to plain and boring for me to use full time.  Recently I heard some people talking about linux, which got me interested in looking at more linux projects.  I got Geubuntu setup on a live CD, and I thought it was awesome!  The look was amazing.  The only things I didn't like about it were that the Firefox window doesn't have minimize and such buttons,  and I ran into errors when configuring the shelf.  I want to use it as my primary OS, but with only one computer, I'm scared to, as I won't be able to run some of my very often used and/or needed programs(Photoshop, Halo, a couple other things).  I'm wondering if it's possible to install it on my hard drive, and still have windows there to boot up somehow, for when I do need it.  Thanks for the info. :P

I can't wait to see what comes from Geubuntu, it will be very exciting when updates are made.  I'm certainly going to recommend Geubuntu to many people. :D

Thank you for the compliments! I've got very few time, so let's go straight to the point:
I finally completed the packages for Prima Luna and will start working to the packages for Luna Nuova tomorrow. That's a hge news because I learned how to create good working deb packages by myself so since now I'm indipendent from the charity of other people, and this is something I never received for this project by the way ;)

So Luna Nuova will be released soon, very likely next week :)
It will be much more stable and beautiful, be sure that you'll be astonished by the great themes I created ;P
Also, you'll be able to install it normally, in dual boot with Windows, with no problem. It is like a normal Ubuntu on that side: you just have to run it live, start the instalaltion process and set the amount of space you want to leave for Windows after the installation. When the installation will be completed, booting up your PC you'll see a menù called GRUB: from that menù you'll be able to choose whether to boot Geubuntu or Windows. Simpler than this :D
I ensure you it is really very easy to install Geubuntu / *Ubuntu, but should you have any problem, I'm here to help you out and assist you ;)

Also, from firefox, you can minimize it. It's only a bug of Geubuntu Prima Luna (Prima Luna means first moon, it was still the first beta version, remember it): just drag the window keeping the "alt" key pressed and you'll see the upper window border correctly ;)

Any other question / problem? Post it here!

That sounds wonderful.  I can't wait until it's out.  Is it possible to run Geubuntu on a USB flash drive?  I'd like to use it at school if possible. ;)

Technically, it is possible. Just install it on the USB drive but it is not an optimized distro to run on an USB flash drive, so I don't recommend it. Flash drives are very delicate and a normal distro can damage them because of the high load of writing and reading process it performs every second... Maybe I'll build a particular Geubuntu version for flash drives now that you mention it :)

Nice.   Once the new Geubuntu is released, if I think it's worth it(most likely will), I might consider having the ISO for download from my server(www.saggy-wars.com).  The current server is to small for it, but I plan on updating the server shortly, and I should have enough room to host it then.  ;D

I saw that you released the new deb packages, so I went ahead and installed Geubuntu on my laptop.  It works fine, but, after about an hour, I still couldn't figure out how to connect to a wireless network.  ???  On the Live CD there was a little icon in the top right on the GNOME bar, but, now that it's on my computer, it is not.  How do I put it back?  Such a stupid question I'm sure, but, I can't figure it out.

Uhm, may be a known bug. Did you use the Geubuntu Live to install it or did you install the packages on a normal Ubuntu? In any case, try changing to GDM instead of Etrance and tell me what happens when you log in from there. If network manager works that way, then it's the known bug I was talking about. Should be solved in the upcoming version.

I installed from the Live CD.  I don't really know what you mean besides that.  I just don't know how to locate wireless connections, so that I can connect to them.  On the Live CD I clicked an icon and selected a network, and I was online.  I don't have that icon anymore.  If you did explain what I should do, I got completely lost.  I'm still new to Linux, so please make it simple when you explain it. :D

Hello, Luna Nuova is out and it hasn't got those sort of bugs. If you wish to, the best way to solve your problems is to download and install the new Geubuntu. Please do it and sorry for the bugs in Prima Luna :(
Hope you'll enjoy the new version :D
